Don’t Get Caught In the Coming Recession

There are so many ways to create a more secure future for you and your family.  Keeping employed maybe one of them.  But what happens if your company decides that you and some fellow co-workers are no longer needed.  Or perhaps the Company goes bankrupt.

That is just a far out change but what is right in our laps is the recession looming in our near future.  The future of 2008.

It must be time for you to secure and kick start a more permanent income or perhaps add to the income you have now.

I remember growing up in a recession.  My survival skills came from watching my mother go to the grocery store and talking to the butcher, the man filling the vegetable bins and getting for free left over scrapes of meat and vegetables that no one would want. We ate beans, rice and fish until I could not even look at another fish. By the time I went to college (which I had to pay for) I was glad to be leaving home. My dad was a great one for catching fish. New clothes were only come by at the beginning of the school year and then had to be made by the family seamstress. Most of us cannot do what my parents did but there are ways to protect your family.

I am living proof that it can be done.  I have lived through four recessions The most hurtful is when you cannot pay your mortgage and you lose your house.  With the housing market the way it is there are many out there that are in the same boat.

Is it going to be a cold winter?  The cost of heating a house could be quite high.  Many sweaters, socks, jackets will be worn this winter in order for the family to stay warm.

In the market today there are many single households run by women.  The greatest majority are Baby Boomer Women.

Imagine walking into your favorite supermarket going to the newsstand and seeing all of the print media featuring the faces of men and women over the age of forty.

Decades past anything under the age of 35 was the feature page or front cover of the popular magazine.  The boomer is on the doorstep of the future.

If you were to decide that a additional income was a necessary way to save your assets marketing to the boomer woman is not a bad way to go.

With baby boomer women facing unique employment, financial, retirement, housing and health care challenges, baby boomer women and women of all ages may experience a need to make choices in their financial future.  Boomer women have money to spend and do make most purchasing decisions.  These women are looking for products and services that appeal to their sense of adventure, curiosity, renegade energy and continuous development.

It is a fact that Boomer women spend more money in all channels than women from all other generations.  Boomer women (47 percent) tend to live in the suburbs in homes built prior to 1985; this spatial isolation will make them more reliant on automobiles and they will pay more for services and care to be brought to them.  Boomer women want to participate more in their own healthfulness and well-being.  They are seeking and want time in the midst of family and social obligations to explore their own creative passions.

According to Mature Marketing & Research, a Boston-based firm, they control more than half of the nation’s discretionary income and three-quarters of the country’s financial wealth.

They are seeking a way to secure their income and are concerned about the loss of their assets.  They want to feel financially secure.  Any one with a business catering to this segment of the population will succeed financially.

Realizing that no one is speaking to the largest, wealthiest demographic in history — boomer women — anyone seeking to have success should have their sights set on a second business that they expect will include broadcast, print and new media over the internet connecting with this segment of the population.

Many of our boomer women will not have secure retirement futures because of diverse and interrelated demographic, social, cultural, political and economic societal factors.

Relating to these factors can be lucrative.

Boomer women have money to spend and make most purchasing decisions.  Boomer women want to rediscover the world around us, to take time (time we never had before while raising families) to explore, experience and revel in the beauty of nature.  Boomer women want our children and grandchildren to be safe.  These women want to feel a sense of possibility, that dreams can indeed come true for themselves and others, and knowing this, they want everyone else to know it too.

As far as the woman of the 40+ group she is the one making most of the decisions regarding what to purchase.  In some cases she is the one making the most money in the household.  Economically, socially and politically these women are the most powerful of any previous generation.
